Hopwood Library Hopwood Library: A Health Resource Center for Patients and Families, on the first floor of UPMC Shadyside, 5230 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, is an information and teaching center dedicated to helping patients learn how to stay healthy and deal with chronic conditions and illnesses. The library's resources are also available for use by patients' families and UPMC health care professionals. Learn how the library and UPMC nurses work as partners in patient education. In addition to traditional reference sources- books, pamphlets, magazines, newsletters, and videos- the library includes access to patient education materials developed by UPMC and a variety of online resources, including catalogs, databases, indices, and a consumer health information Web site. Reference assistance, areas for private viewing and reading, a photocopier, and wheelchair-accessible computer equipment are available.
